After running Success Logistics for nearly four years, Marco Harris found himself with a wide variety of clients and a strong operation, but tight margins. He needed an edge to increase profits and solidify success.

With weekly profit margins tight at around 10%, Harris is looking to Optym's solution to help bump that to 13% or 15%, a 30-50% increase in profits.
“If I can keep moving the profitability needle up three or five more percent, that’s great,” Harris said.
Once a load has been identified, the process of confirming and logging rates has always been a tedious task. With Optum’s auto-import feature, Harris can drag and drop a rate confirmation onto the load and the system will automatically populate all the details.
“It’s pretty smooth and saves a lot of time,” Harris said. “The system also makes it easier for my dispatcher, so more of our time is freed up to do other things that we need to do.”
From day to day, Success Logistics’ goal is to move the truck with the best possible rate they can get. Harris looks for one-day trips. The strategy is to pick up a load in the morning, deliver it the next morning, and repeat that cycle at the highest rate possible on a consistent basis.
“It can be challenging at times trying to find the appropriate lanes and the appropriate rates,” Harris said. “But the way Optym's software is designed, it automatically populates the best rates and the best profitability margin,”
Because Success Logistics focuses on one-day loads, Harris used to spend a great deal of time scanning load boards.
“But with the Optym's software app, it’s going to pull up the top five loads based on city and state or area where you’re trying to run,” Harris said. “It’s going to pull up the best load from the DAT board that’s available, versus without Optym's software, you go on DAT and you pretty much scan through all the different loads to find those best five loads.”
“It takes no time, because it’s automatically populated for you instantly,” Harris said.
